Matrix Box Set

Cool things continue to happen! Brainclaw unexpectedly and joyfully received two more contracts from Warner Brothers last night! It seems that Warner want to license the songs Insekt/Angel, Abaddon, Burn My Will and Icarus Wings, all from the new Insekt/Angel CD, for use on the upcoming Matrix Box Set DVD collection!

It appears that they have filmed two new features, The Matrix Revisited and The Matrix Chronicles that are to join the original film trilogy in the upcoming Box Set release, and these Brainclaw songs will be used somewhere in both features. More news will follow on exact usage and placement as things with the Box Set continue to deveolp.

Brainclaw views their songs on Spiderman DVD

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004

Spiderman DVDIt has become reality. Brainclaw spent part of last night down in Studio Auroviral watching the newly-released Spiderman Collector’s Edition Box Set DVD. They did find the specially remixed instrumental verions of Insekt/Angel and When The Dark Rains Come behind several segments in the special Making-Of featurette on Disc 3.

This behind-the-scenes bonus program is called Behind The Scenes Of Spiderman. It is the second selection on Disc 3. The program is opened by Insekt/Angel, which runs, loudly mixed, over the entire intro to the show. Next, the first full segment of the program uses When The Dark Rains Come in it’s entirety, and even adds an edit to fill out a full four minutes and thirty seconds of screen time!

The song runs for the entire segment of the program. Also, Brainclaw is the first band mentioned in the credits. Of course, Tara and David were totally excited to be able to be involved such a cool film, and they are still grinning from ear to ear! There have been rumors of yet another huge cinematic Brainclaw music event happening soon, but we must wait patiently and see what the future holds…

Excellent review of Insekt/Angel in Grave Concerns ezine

Tuesday, June 1st, 2004

Grave Concerns ezineElectro music webzine Grave Concerns have just posted their review of the 2004 Promo CD. It’s an excellent review, with some cool analysis of the music itself.

“Brainclaw is well-balanced blend of industrial meets electro. The band is in the vein of Carfax Abbey mixed with Noxious Emotion if you were looking for a comparison. I have only heard a sampling from their latest CD Maxi that contains “Insekt/Angel”, “Incessant Surveillance” and “When the Dark Rains Come”. What I like about the CD is their more mellow electronic sound that really stands about as one of their strongest features. I also like the deep bass sounds within the programming.

The vocals have a more -raw but melodic edge at times, or the vocals can have a darker side. Sometimes you hear the female member sing in this creepy tone for an added gothic touch. The programming is very melodic and ready for any dance floor. I like “When the Dark Rains Come”, has a robotic effect within in a sample, and the thunder sample at the end. The beginning of the song starts up with ancient mummy sound before it breaks into more of an upbeat tempo. “Insekt/ Angel” again has a nice swing to the programming and good use of the more distorted robotic effect within the vocals. From what I heard from these 3 songs Brainclaw has a great sound that should please fans of industrial and electro. The songs sounded really smooth on this 3 song maxi-CD and I am ready for more.”

Many thanks to Julie Johnson at G.C. for taking the time to review the Promo CD.
