Crazy and magical things continued to happen to Brainclaw last week. Tara and David got to experience a lifelong dream on Friday, July 23 in Central Park, NYC where they saw DEVO deliver a fantastic live show. The constant rain didn’t dampen anyone’s experience, however, and the sold-out crowd was maniacal in their responses to each song.
After a killer set, featuring a fantastic ending with Mark’s alter-ego Booji Boy, the torrential downpour started, but it was completely worth it! David even scored a red Devo Energy Dome! Things started to get really crazy on Saturday, when they attended the gallery opening for Mark Mothersbaugh’s new photomanipulation artwork. It’s very disturbing and creative stuff, involving antique photos that are halved and mirrored at some interesting place on the photograph. See some of this artwork here.
The place was packed, and suddenly, David and Tara were yanked into a room to be interviewed on camera for an upcoming documentary movie on Mark’s artwork and his music with Devo!
Then, Mark and Jerry of Devo walked in, and were mobbed with fans wanting autographs. After things had settled down, David and Tara were able to spend some quality time with Jerry, Mark, Anita Greenspan, and Michael Pilmer, webmaster of the Club Devo and Devo Obsesso websites. They were all wonderfully genuine, kind and creative people. Brainclaw wishes to send each one of them sincere thanks for treating David and Tara so kindly. Duty Now!
