Richard Heene, The Science Detective, uses Brainclaw songs in new show

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

Richard Heene, The Science Detective!Richard Heene, California producer, director and scientist, approached us about using multiple Brainclaw songs in his next episode of The Science Detective, a television science exploration series geared toward young adults.

He has already selected several songs from both albums for the episode, called “The Tornado Seeking Rocket” including his favorite, the ever-popular When The Dark Rains Come, which has already made appearances on The Matrix and Spiderman DVD releases.

It deals with research using rockets to detect and predict relationships between electromagnetic fields and hurricane physics, with the ultimate goal of being able to give better early warning in the event of catastrophic storms.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 23, 2005 – Storm-chasers Richard Heene and Clint Perkins of the Science Detective Research Group flew directly into Hurricane Wilma as it bore down on the Florida coast after battering resorts on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

Heene and Perkins, armed with still and video cameras and a geomagnetometer, were invited to join the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’ Tampa, Fla.,-based Hurricane Hunters on two missions.

Along with the NOAA crew, the storm-chasers strapped into five-point seatbelt harnesses and embarked upon a dramatic, lightning-ridden ride into Hurricane Wilma to photograph and measure the earth’s magnetic field around the storm.”

A stressful weekend, but little Fox is doing great!

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

David and little FoxHello, Friends of Brainclaw!

If you don’t want to read the whole story, no problem. Here’s the important part: Fox the kitten is thriving! He’s playing, eating and using his box like a big boy. He’s absolutely a new kitten!

Tara found this little guy in a shopping center parking lot last Wednesday. We took him to the vet, who said he’d pull through with a little TLC. We thought that was the end of the story, and that we had 4 cats now…

The kitten took a MAJOR downturn Friday morning. We found him lying on his side, unresponsive, not breathing and cold. Tara thought he was dead. Needless to say, I was pretty much hysterical. I lifted him up to give him a kiss goodbye, and 9miracle of miracles) he suddenly sighed and coughed!

We rushed him to our 24 hour emergency animal hospital where they intubated him, put him on an IV drip and kept him in an incubator. They weren’t hopeful. He was 6 weeks old, 1 pound. He was so far gone with malnutrition and dehydration and ten other problems that even though he looked OK Wednesday and Thursday, he was actually dying.

I was pretty much miserable all day Friday, waiting for the inevitable death call from the hospital.

THEN…

…we got a call from the hospital Friday night, saying the kitty was actually breathing on his own, and moving around! They still weren’t very optimistic, but they were working on him 24 hours a day. We get another call on Saturday, saying he was walking around, beginning to eat, and meowing! They actually couldn’t believe it!

We visited him Saturday afternoon, and he looked so much better! They called us Sunday morning and said “Come take him home!” We couldn’t believe it.

We hand-fed him Sunday and all day and night Monday. He sleeps on a heating pad. We’re administering two different antibiotics and a wormer. The little tough guy had a terrible case of roundworms, fleas, ear mites, dehydration, malnutrition and an upper respiratory condition. He’s recovering from ALL of them, with flying colors!

When I left him this morning with Tara, he was lying on his back, eyes bright. I went to rub his belly, and he grabbed my hand and started nibbling and attacking me, playfully, of course! He is making a stellar recovery.

After all of this, we’ve decided to keep him in the family. He needs to live in the Studio for two months until we can test him for the more grievous feline diseases, which it is doubtful he has, then he can join our other cats. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes! We know they helped him survive.

Brainclaw plays new Albany, NY club Red Square

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Brainclaw was extremely well-received in Albany, NY this past Labor Day weekend. The new club Red Square hosted Brainclaw and last minute addition Doomsday Virus on Saturday, September 2.

There was a fantastic crowd present, and audience participation was in effect. It was an excellent room, and the sound man, Dave, was wonderful to work with. Between setting up, playing, and manning the merch table, we were able to meet and greet many fans, some of who we have only known online.

Brainclaw live drummer James Sewell went on to perform a floor-crowding DJ set after Brainclaw did their performance.

Many thanks to promoter Dani Doominator, Alien Nation, Teri Logan and Julie Johnson of Grave Concerns Ezine for making it a fantastic night.

There is a brand new image gallery from the show, right at the bottom of this page. Check it out full-size for maximum Claw effect! Thanks for the great photos, Julie!
