Brainclaw live show reminder…

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Brainclaw live at the World CafeJust a quick reminder that Brainclaw will be playing a cool benefit concert this Tuesday, May 1 at the World Café in Philadelphia. We will be playing the Upstairs portion of the World Café.

This is an extremely cool venue, and has hosted some excellent artists over the years. We’re truly excited to be playing there!

We will be playing two short sets, surrounded by two of the best industrial DJs on the planet, DJ Dave Ghoul and DJ Knobhead! There will be only the best Electro-Industrial and alternative tunes spun all night long.

There will be brand-new Brainclaw merchandise and CDs for sale, there will be dealer tables, and all proceeds from the small cover charge go to help musicians made homeless by Hurricane Katrina. It’s all for a good cause!

Keep in mind that Colin Hay from seminal Eighties band Men At Work will be playing Downstairs at the same venue! (Tara suggested that we should cover “Land Down Under” that night…)

We’d really love to see you there!

Brainclaw and family appear in newly published book

Armed America book coverOn a completely non-musical note, Brainclaw are featured in a brand-new tabletop photo book by Philadelphia’s Kyle Cassidy. The book is called Armed America, and is a completely non-partisan look at firearms owners across America.

Kyle traveled the entire length and breadth of the USA to gather stunning photos of American gun owners in their homes. It is a surprising and revealing look and an oft-wrongly maligned culture, full of safe and sane legal gun owners. Each person photographed has a quote in the book, describing why they have chosen to own firearms.

We appear in the book, as well as David’s father, Joseph, who even appears on the back of the dust cover! Kyle has done an excellent job with this project, and the publisher has really done it justice with a flawless presentation. They describe the book in this manner:

“Few things generate as much debate as firearms, and behind this often hotly debated topic are real people. Estimates say roughly half of all Americans are gun owners… but why do so many Americans own a firearm?

Photographer Kyle Cassidy took on the challenge of answering this question without a political agenda. Readers will meet some of the faces behind firearm ownership, and discover honest answers to a single question: “Why do you own a gun?”

Armed America offers a powerful, provocative, and sometimes startling view of gun ownership in the U.S. with portraits of people from different backgrounds, and living in various locations, with the one common connection of firearm ownership. This riveting and revealing collection of photos of people in their own environments will capture every reader’s attention, whatever their stance on gun control.”

The book is now available for pre-order on amazon.com and will also be available in all major bookstores as well, starting July 7. Congratulations to Kyle on his latest published work!

Dead Monsters destroyed and rebuilt by DEDMAN

Brainclaw Vs. Dedman graphicBrainclaw received one of the absolute best remixes ever this weekend.

Elusive and mysterious electromusic artist Dedman released his Reorchestration of “Dead Monsters” which completely blew away everyone in the Brainclaw Enclave on Saturday.

“Dead Monsters” is, of course, the title track from Brainclaw’s latest release, available worldwide, from BLC Productions.

This creepy re-imagining has some of the highest production values of any remix we’ve ever heard, and definitively sets the bar extremely high for further remix endeavors.

Dedman’s remix retains the basic structure and length of the original, but peels back the song’s skin and muscles, replacing them with super high quality electronics and ear-melting effects processing.

It is truly a Herculean effort!

You can hear this stunning remix as an .mp3 file HERE.

You can download a full resolution .wav file HERE.

Many thanks to Dedman for this awesome re-interpretation of our work!
