Complete re-mix and update of Wreck cover

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Brainclaw and Nicki Jaine

Hey, Clawlings.

When Kyle Cassidy, Nicki Jaine, Tara and I collaborated on a goth-industrial cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” I didn’t have the time or the tech to really do it properly.

Well, Kyle got in touch with me recently and told me his guitars sounded lame and too quiet in the old mix. And they were! So, I have done a complete rebuild with the exceedingly cool new technology that Brainclaw now has access to, and the results are much more satisfying than the original mix.

Kyle’s guitars were pumped full of audio steroids, Nicki and Tara’s vocals were re-edited and re-effected, I added “real” drums in the choruses to give them some extra meat, and I ran the whole thing through my new secret weapon.

No, I will NOT tell you what it is. It wouldn’t be a secret anymore if I did!

Please enjoy this high resolution .aiff file of the completely rebuilt Brainclaw cover of “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

Or if you prefer the quick and easy path, (i.e. the dark side) here is the .mp3 version..

We will be emerging soon, new album finally in hand, to delight, enthrall and generally scare the hell out of Brainclaw fans everywhere.

The time is nearly upon us.

You, the faithful, have waited so patiently. Wait just a bit longer, and your patience will be rewarded in spades.

New Brainclaw album DECEPTOR gets weapons upgrade

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

David and Tara of BrainclawJust an interim update on the new Brainclaw album’s progress…

John Ruszin has been doing an insane job of adding guitar tracks to the completed songs on the new Brainclaw release. We’re nearing completion, and the tracks are sounding amazing.

The great thing about John is that he’s a musician’s guitar player. He can play waht needs to be played, and that is especially crucial on this recording. This is going to be a hard electro-industrial release, and his guitar fits the songs perfectly.

John knows exactly how to play, what to play and has a palette of sounds that integrate perfectly with Brainclaw’s electronics.

So please enjoy this surprise sample from the new album, the song “Matte Black Smile.”

Click HERE for a high resolution .mp3 file of the new song.

We will be gearing up for summer shows with John on board to tour the new release.

Thanks to all of you for your support and patience through the album composition process!

Guitarist John Ruszin unites with Brainclaw!

Friday, December 19th, 2008

David of BrainclawWe here at the Brainclaw Enclave are terribly excited to announce an intense new collaboration with an old friend and bandmate:

John Ruszin, guitar virtuoso and head of the Collinwood 13 electro industrial project, has come on board, lending his precise and powerful axe-playing to the new Brainclaw CD, DECEPTOR.

As many Brainclaw fans know, David and John met when Philadelphia industrial rock act Carfax Abbey was created 12 years ago, where they composed a large portion of the music for Carfax’s early and middle years.

The new Brainclaw songs were already moving in a very hard direction, and the addition of John’s guitar tracks on many of the new songs will upgrade the recording with a serious amount of kick-ass.

John has also expressed interest in, and will be joining Brainclaw on tour this summer in support of the new album’s release.

We welcome John’s addition to the team, and look forward to deploying his particular brand of industrial mayhem in our future stage show!

Check out John’s solo work at his Collinwood 13 website.

Also stay tuned for super secret snippets of the nearly finished songs from the upcoming Brainclaw release, on LiveJournal, Facebook, MySpace and right here at the official Brainclaw Website.

New Brainclaw-produced album from Gary Billings

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Grey Skies cover art
The wonderful new album that we produced and recorded for Gary Billings, called Grey Skies, has been released and is now available for purchase and download.

Track Listing:
1. At All
2. Stay
3. Reaping the Wreckage of My Past
4. Castles in the Sand
5.Your Life of Uncertainty
6. Hannah’s Lullaby

You can buy CDs or digital downloads from CDBaby HERE. You can also buy the CD from Isotank.com.

For more info, see Gary’s MySpace page.

The album is a departure from Gary’s work in Carfax Abbey, and his voice and guitar playing are at their peak.

This is a pure, unadulterated look into Gary’s complex soul, with no frosting or artifice. Please give it a listen, it will be well worth your time.

Tara and I had a fantastic time reuniting with Gary again in our own Studio Auroviral, where much of the Carfax Abbey back catalogue was written and recorded.

It was like we never stopped… the same communication and creativity flowed freely again. It was a wonderful experience.

We had such a great time, who knows what the future might bring?

New Brainclaw song sneak-peek!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

We here at the Brainclaw Enclave are pleased to present a sneak-peek at a song from the upcoming Brainclaw release.

Here, for your listening pleasure, is the new song, “Desperate Measures” which will be featured on the new Brainclaw CD.

Desperate Measures (192kbps mp3 file)

The album writing is coming along well, and this release is taking shape as a much harder-edged, angrier recording than either of the previous releases.

There are about 8 completed songs, with various other tunes in multiple stages of completion at this point. Videos for several of the new songs are under construction as well.

You can expect more Brainclaw live shows as the weather cools, so check out the Performance page for those dates in the Fall.

Keep tuned to this channel for updates on this release and other Brainclaw news.

Thanks again to all of you who have been keeping in touch with us during the writing phase and we look forward to seeing many of you soon!

New Brainclaw album progressing nicely

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

The new Brainclaw release is just about half in the can, so to speak.

Five songs have been completed and are ready to go. Here’s a sneak peek at the new song titles that are ready:

01. Deceptor
02. Desperate Measures
03. Tryst
04. Matte-Black Smile
05. Downsekt

The new release’s name has yet to be determined at this point.

Brainclaw graphic artist Pam Methot is hard at work on the pre-visualization phase of her art creation process.

We look forward, as always, to see what demented imagery her wonderfully twisted mind comes up with!

Look for preview snippets of these songs in the coming weeks as the album nears completion.

New Brainclaw song snippet leaked with intense video

Monday, March 10th, 2008

We accidentally (as often happens with new web content) stumbled on this cool new video/music mash-up Friday afternoon.

Somebody had taken a snippet of a brand new, unreleased Brainclaw song, “Desperate Measures” from the forthcoming Brainclaw album, and mated it with a particularly chilling piece of film on the bombing of Hiroshima. How they came by the unreleased track was a mystery for awhile…

It was after some digging that we discovered it was our own label, BLC, who perpetrated this madness! The images definitely fit with the song, and we look forward to making actual music videos for the new CD.

Many thanks to Brandon at BLC for his intense and unflagging support of our musical endeavors, as well as his amazingly creative viral marketing mind!
