Gary Billings and David Giuffre cover Pink Floyd song

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Gary and David spent Sunday creating a darker cover of a Pink Floyd song that was already pretty dark, “Comfortably Numb.”

You can check it out HERE.

Enjoy.

“Comfortably Numb” was featured on the platinum-selling Pink Floyd album, The Wall, released in 1979.

David will be performing this song and several others live with Gary at his next show, so stay tunes for show dates.

Be sure to check Gary’s MySpace page for all kinds of new songs and concert dates.

Here, for your listening pleasure, is the new song, “Desperate Measures” which will be featured on the new Brainclaw CD.

Desperate Measures (192kbps mp3 file)

The album writing is coming along well, and this release is taking shape as a much harder-edged, angrier recording than either of the previous releases.

There are about 8 completed songs, with various other tunes in multiple stages of completion at this point. Videos for several of the new songs are under construction as well.

You can expect more Brainclaw live shows as the weather cools, so check out the Performance page for those dates in the Fall.

Keep tuned to this channel for updates on this release and other Brainclaw news.

Thanks again to all of you who have been keeping in touch with us during the writing phase and we look forward to seeing many of you soon!

New Brainclaw song snippet leaked with intense video

Monday, March 10th, 2008

We accidentally (as often happens with new web content) stumbled on this cool new video/music mash-up Friday afternoon.

Somebody had taken a snippet of a brand new, unreleased Brainclaw song, “Desperate Measures” from the forthcoming Brainclaw album, and mated it with a particularly chilling piece of film on the bombing of Hiroshima. How they came by the unreleased track was a mystery for awhile…

It was after some digging that we discovered it was our own label, BLC, who perpetrated this madness! The images definitely fit with the song, and we look forward to making actual music videos for the new CD.

Many thanks to Brandon at BLC for his intense and unflagging support of our musical endeavors, as well as his amazingly creative viral marketing mind!

Brand-new Brainclaw interview in Regen Music Magazine

Monday, February 5th, 2007

Regen Music Magazine Brainclaw interview graphicThere is a brand-new behemoth of an interview with David and Tara of Brainclaw posted on Regen Music Magazine’s website as of this morning.

Regen Staff Writer Ilker Yücel conducted the interview by phone with Brainclaw last week, and it was a lengthy and interesting look into many aspects of the Brainclaw machine, and David and Tara’s lives.

Many diverse topics were covered, including inspirations for the two extant BC albums, what’s coming up next, politics, filesharing, media excesses, responsibilities of firearms ownership and dealing with personal demons.

In addition to this interesting peek into their personal lives, Regen also covered the newly-released Brainclaw re-imagining of Gordon Lightfoot’s classic Seventies ballad, “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald.” You can read the Regen review of the song here.

Many thanks to Ilker and Regen for the excellent press and most interesting and fun interview!

Chain DLK gives Dead Monsters CD an excellent review

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Chain DLK Dead Monsters review imageInternational electromusic webzine Chain D.L.K. has posted a very positive review of the latest Brainclaw CD Dead Monsters.

Reviewer Marc Tater describes Dead Monsters in this manner: “A well worked out Electro/Industrial album with a rather American influence – also for BLC a welcomed development to release music besides the EBM/Dark Electro formula – while BRAINCLAW are able to deal with this styles, too. Thumbs up, good stuff!”

Head over to the Chain D.L.K. website to read the entire review, and make sure you look around a bit at this fantastic and comprehensive electromusic website.

Many thanks to Marc Tater and the crew at Chain D.L.K. for the wonderful review and great press.

Dead Monsters CD gets stellar review in latest Side-Line magazine

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Dead Monsters/Side-line graphicThe newest Brainclaw CD, Dead Monsters, got an excellent review in the latest print issue of highly-regarded European Side-Line Music Magazine. The reviewer was clearly impressed with the album, and gave it a wonderful review. Here’s an excerpt:

“…their newest offering, 2006’s ‘Dead Monsters,’ is a real gem… Boasting steely resolve, subtle melodies and pulsating electrobeats, Brainclaw has hit a genuine home-run. Standout tracks include the lead offerings, “Strike” and “Dead Monsters,” both of which highlight Tara Giuffre’s dark and intelligent vocal stylings…”

Go, Tara! Please grab a print copy of Side-Line to read the entire review. In it, you can also find the Checkline section, two pages back from the main review, where Dead Monsters joins twelve other albums in a five-way review grid, where the CDs get short reviews from five selected writers in the magazine. Dead Monsters faired very well in these reviews as well.

Side-Line Music Magazine is choked to the oscillators with fantastic reviews, interviews and exclusive content you won’t find anywhere else in print or on the web. Check it out!
Many thanks to Bernard and the crew at Side-Line for the positive press and exposure in Europe.

Dead Monsters CD gets great review in Regen Music Magazine

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

Regen Magazine Well-known genre writer Ilker Yücel gave the new Dead Monsters CD an excellent review in this month’s issue of Regen Music Magazine. You can find the complete text of the review on Regen’s website by clicking here.

Regen Music Magazine is an excellent resource for all things electro industrial, and is well worth a long look. They have just revamped their website’s layout, and it’s look and functionality have never been better.

Ilker Yücel has been writing about music for many years, and will actually be doing a remix of the title track from Dead Monsters in the near future. There have been some excellent remixes done of Brainclaw material, and fans have been making requests so… there may be a new Brainclaw Remix CD in the works for the wintertime. Look for more remix news right here, as it happens.

Many thanks to Ilker and Regen Music Magazine for this excellent press and review! Remember, if you are affiliated with a music website or magazine, or are a music writer, please contact Brainclaw Management to request a promotional copy of Dead Monsters or Insekt/Angel.

Dead Monsters CD gets stellar review in Philadelphia City Paper

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

A.D. Amorosi wrote a fantastic and very positive review of the new Brainclaw CD, Dead Monsters in this week’s edition of the Philadelphia City Paper. Here is the text of the review:

Brainclaw
Dead Monsters
(BLC)

From the bouncing sequencers to rolling, roiling melodies, Philly’s Brainclaw may just be EBM’s new best friend. Underneath the tiny elegance is a grandly seductive steeliness that makes Nine Inch Nails look like Tackhead. David and Tara Giuffre — Brainclaw’s married duo — use scuffed up techno-electro as a scabby soundtrack for torrid tales about big subject matter. You know: the Machine, the Demon, the Space We Inhabit. Like the Serpent in the Garden, there’s something insidious and beautiful within “Euphorium” and “The Temporal Tide.” For “Soft Self Portrait,” you’re repelled by their images of godliness and pain yet unable to draw yourself too far from its passion. But, as Roger Waters did with these tall topics, Brainclaw ekes out messages so personal and detailed, it’s as if each phrase is poured through each pore.
